Angie and the American Dream

The Muskrat Hunter spreads the word: Angie Paccione will be on Fox 31 at 9:30 PM tonight.
Fox chose to highlight the personal stories of a few Coloradans who exemplify the American Dream. I am proud to be featured in this way because I believe in the American Dream, and I want to do everything I can to help every American achieve it.

Equal time for equal pay

After years and years of coverage and awareness, women still only earn 76.5 cents for every $1 a man makes. That affects not just quality of life, but the ability to raise your family. And women are paid differently even when men are doing the same job. Say Angie Paccione, in the Rocky Mountain News:
"If we stayed at the same place with civil rights as we have stayed with worker's rights and women's pay, there would be outrage."

"It's like saying we're going to grant you civil rights, but you still have to stay in the back of the bus. We would not allow that, but we still allow for women to get paid significantly less than what men get paid for doing the same job."

Robo-calls are pricey

Penndit:
And which incumbent spent the most money last quarter? It's Rep. Marilyn Musgrave (R-CO 04), whose campaign has already purchased voter files, made automated phone calls, and printed 15,000 yard signs.
Don't know about you, but can't wait for the shrill shriek of her fundraising pleas come September . . . .

Here we go again

From AMERICAblog:
Here we go again. Bastards:
About 50 prominent religious leaders, including seven Roman Catholic cardinals and about a half-dozen archbishops, have signed a petition in support of a constitutional amendment blocking same-sex marriage.
Fostering hatred and discrimination -- and enshrining it in the constitution. Because really, what else would the religious community in America -- especially the Catholics -- have to worry about?

This is so much bigger than gay marriage. The GOP and the theocrats are going after gays now. But, they really want to invade the privacy of all Americans.

This is interesting . . .

Saw this comment at dKos:

The following Colorado House members are on the Autism Caucus, yet they never support Autism Bills or general bills that help Autism. In fact, they have
voted for a number of bills that hurt disabled children and they are not cosponsors on any bill to fully-fund IDEA Act.

I would suggest confronting them with this and asking why? Are they really for the health of disabled children, or is it just resume fodder? Are they really pro-life, or only pro-birth?

And Marilyn is a member of the House Autism Caucus. Yet, does that mean she'll fight on behalf of disabled children? Not exactly:
As I have posted before, the Republicans have never fully funded the IDEA Act, and they have passed a Budget Resolution that allows funding for disabled children to be slashed. Well, they are at it again. The Republican Budget is once again attacking disabled children. The party that believes we can't afford to cover every American with one plan, but would rather throw them to the wolves or cover them through more expensive pieces of plans, is now just cutting care for children.
