Mariana paradise

In June National Public Radio looked at how Tom DeLay and Jack Abramoff used the Marianas Islands in their corruption machines.

Even though Marilyn Musgrave sits on two committees that can stop the slave labor, forced abortions, child exploitation, and money laundering, she's done nothing.

Musgrave on the ropes

Angie Paccione tops $1 million raised, and now the Denver Post has a story on how vulnerable Marilyn Musgrave is.

Dissatisfaction nationally with Republicans and aggressive campaigning by a Democratic challenger have some questioning whether Congresswoman Marilyn Musgrave's Colorado seat is in jeopardy.

"There is something going on. This race is now competitive," said Amy Walter, senior editor of the nonpartisan Cook Political Report, which analyzes the country's congressional races. "Musgrave is vulnerable."

The report recently rated Musgrave as in danger of losing her seat to Democratic state Rep. Angie Paccione. And the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has reserved $630,000 of television ad time for the race. U.S. Rep. Rahm Emanuel, D-Ill., who heads the committee, said in a recent interview that it was closely eyeing the race.

Rumsfeld Must Go

Like night and day, Angie Paccione shows she's no rubber stamp.
Rep. Marilyn Musgrave said, "The Democrats are simply looking for a scapegoat for the election season and they've selected Rumsfeld."

The Republican lawmaker said said Rumsfeld is an advocate for the U.S. policy to win the war on terror by giving the Iraqi people the ability to defend themselves and then bring U.S. troops home.

"Instead, the liberal Democrats in Congress want to continue to advocate cut-and-run policies that lack a commitment to win the ultimate war on terror," she said.

State Rep. Angie Paccione, Musgrave's Democratic challenger, endorsed the call for Rumsfeld's resignation.

"Donald Rumsfeld has been attacking patriotic Americans for criticizing the administration's incompetence and corrupt leadership," she said in a quote. "Americans are looking for real security, not slogans. He should be removed."
